The Uncle of my blog writing, “hipster,” music loving, photographer friend left two dollars on her bed after she slept with a guy at her uncle’s place. This guy was not introduced to the uncle and was NOT her boyfriend. She simply snuck him in AFTER her uncle was “asleep.” I don’t think her uncle appreciated this gesture and left the two dollars on her bed the next morning. She didn’t care at the time claiming she is a “free woman, it’s her place; her body; her choice and SHE’S in full control.” (Flash forward a few months: she claimed she regretted it and felt dirty etc., but she seemed to wear it as a badge of honor, more than disgrace).
SO, is she a slut or ho? Hardly, she’s just giving into what many women are faced with today: “Sex now? or Sex tomorrow? How can we get and keep a guy without giving it up?”
The article from Solon.com made me think of this response:
“Sex costs less,” maybe not two dollars, but I agree, many men think paying for a movie, talking to you (with short pointless sentences), or inviting you over to a party warrants enough to result in SEX.
Maybe my man friends don't think that of me...but even a guy I really liked asked over lunch, "What does it take to sleep with you?" and later he texted me that he, “ Knew a place we could go, ma, if I knew what he meant?” Other men have texted me right out, “Asking if I like to have sex.”
For every woman that says, “No, to sex” about 20 others will say, “Yes, forget coffee! When and what positions?”
Even worse? If men are immature and they “date” you, they might expect you to go on the pill so they can stop using a condom (my friend's experience). He might even demand sex, when you are sick or have a yeast infection...GROSS!! I’m NOT looking forward to dating or ANYTHING, if men are like this...
Don’t let the female be a minority as we get objectified more as, "sexually willing." Curly hair doesn’t help either (My friend once had a STUPID friend who just couldn’t understand NO, because he’s never HAD to with my man friend’s female friends...) I assume my man friend has always had female friends where he gets “first pick” and his other male friends get the “female leftovers.” Well, since my good man friend and I were NOT hooking up, I guess his stupid friend thought I was fair game...Needless to say, when this guy tried to grab me, I got up walked out.
The idea that women give men sex in hopes that they will stay doesn’t work, but I have seen women wear it like a badge of honor and brag like they, “Have something”...giving gifts or having a child will not change his mentality, either!
